Please Keep Praying!
Maria, the Ukraine program director for our adoption agency, will be flying to Ukraine on Thursday, taking with her our homestudy draft to try and secure us a place in the waiting line. Please continue to pray that our draft will be accepted (they, the facilitators in Ukraine, say they are going to make it work) and that our filing date will be no later than October of this year. We'll keep you posted, and thanks for praying with us!

The First of Many!
Tonight we witnessed what we are sure is the first of many answered prayers as we embark on our adoption process.
This evening our social worker e-mailed the draft of our homestudy report to us and our adoption agency!! We expected it to be another two weeks!
Our adoption agency will be using this draft to try and get us on the waiting list to file our dossier with Ukraine. We should know in a few days if Ukraine will accept the draft and place us on their waiting list.
Prayer Requests:
-For Ukraine to accept our homestudy draft and for us to be put on the waiting list!
-For our filing date to be no later than October 2010.
As Always...
-For our sweet child who is out there somewhere.
-For finances for the adoption. With our homestudy being near to completion we will begin filling out applications for grants and raising funds in earnest. We will have to have all of the money needed ($35,000) before we travel hopefully by the end of the year!
-For Matt and I to continue to be patient through this process!

Update!
So our social worker is not going to release a partial home study, which is definitely disappointing but totally understandable. She is however, going to send a draft of the home study, that will have blanks in it with missing pieces, to our agency. Our agency worker is then going to try and use that to get us on the waiting list to file.
Please pray that the draft will be sufficient enough to get us on the waiting list!!
We are going today to get our physical's done for our adoption. This will be the last piece of information we are responsible to give our social worker for our home study.
Please also pray that the State of Missouri will be efficient in getting our state police reports sent to our social worker. This will be our only hold up.
The quicker we (and the State) can get all the necessary documents to our social worker, the quicker she can complete our home study report and the sooner we can get on the waiting list to file our dossier.
Thanks for praying with us!

Huge Prayer Request!
As we have previously said, it is our goal to have our son home by Christmas 2010, in order for this to happen, we need a small miracle.
There is currently a waiting list in Ukraine to file a dossier for a family wanting to adopt a child under 6. The waiting list grows every day. Right now, the waiting list is into September to file our dossier. Just a month ago the waiting list was only in June. So you can see how quickly it has filled up.
In order to get a place on the waiting list to file our dossier with the Ukrainian government, we need our social worker to provide a partial homestudy report. This isn't something they normally do, but we are praying our social worker will make an exception. If our social worker does not make an exception, then we will have to wait around 4 weeks for her to complete the homestudy. There is a good chance, if we have to wait a month, that our date to file our dossier will not be until February 2011.
In order to complete our adoption in 2010 we need to file our dossier no later than October. Please pray that our social worker will provide the partial homestudy so we can be placed on the waiting list to file our dossier, and that we can get a filing date no later than October 2010.
Thanks so much!

What is a home study ?
The adoption home study is a detailed written report of your family compiled and prepared by a social worker. This can take three to six months to finish. The adoption home study requires the prospective adoptive family to gather different documents, answer several questions, and explore their reasons for adopting. Through a series of visits and interviews the social worker can get a complete picture of who you are and what life is like in your family. The adoption home study is a part of the decision making process for both the prospective family and the workers. Not only can the adoption home study help the worker place a child into your home who would best fit into your family, but help the family and the worker decide if now is a good time for your family to adopt.
