Hosting

We are hosting Miss. Y for around 7 weeks this summer, and then she will return to Ukraine. I can only imagine now how hard it will be for us to send her back. Yet we know in our hearts, even if only for a short time, these 7 weeks will change her life forever.

For 7 weeks she will....
-Experience the Redeeming Love of Christ
-Experience the love of a Family
-Receive true rest in a safe environment
-Be able to eat foods that provide complete nutrition, like fresh fruits and vegetables
-Experience American Culture
-Experience for the first time, many things she otherwise would not be able to

We already know 7 weeks will not be long enough for us, but it will be enough to give her HOPE. Hope because she will know she is not alone in this world because she has a God who will always love her and never forsake her. Hope because she will always be a part of our family in whatever way God allows. Hope because we will always be there to encourage her, support her and help her navigate life, even if its from afar.

So while 7 weeks may seem too short, we are thankful to have this time to show Y all the reasons she has, to have HOPE!

I am sharing a video put together by other host families in 2013. While some of the statistics have changed, not for the better, they are still quite accurate, and still heartbreaking. The future of many of these Ukrainian orphans is bleak, but I am so thankful for organizations like Marina's Kids who are making a difference in their lives!
