Meetings

Apparently after all of the days off due to the holidays the regional administrator was busy with meetings all day today. So we are still waiting for his signature.

We are praying that the social worker will be able to get his signature first thing tomorrow morning.

Once we have his signature, our documents will be sent to Kiev to be filed with the SDA. After reviewing the documents we submit and a few other things such as interpol clearance, then they will write their letter of conclusion giving their approval for the adoption.

Once we have that, then we can apply for a court date.

We are praying to have our court date set by the end of this week and are praying that it will be during the first part of next week.

In other news...

Today was a good visit with R at the orphanage. They had visitors today who came in and put on a puppet show for the kids. We asked the orphanage director if it would be okay if we went with R and she said yes. It was a cute little puppet show about Christmas and they also told the Christmas story using a felt board for their visual aid. I felt like I had walked back in time! The kids loved it, and loved playing a few games and receiving prizes for playing! The toys they got were small, cheap, worse than happy meal toys and what most of us would consider "junk." Yet to these kids who have so little together, let alone anything of their own, they were treasures. It was so fun to watch their eyes light up as they got them and began to play with them.

Spending time with these children is heartbreaking and humbling.

How much we take for granted. How much we do not truly appreciate. How much we waste.

How selfish and greedy we are.
